Plumbing in Bowie, MD
Local notes on your water utility, common problems and rebates, plus what we can help with.
Bowie is in Prince George's County, close to our Capitol Heights base, and WSSC Water provides water and sewer service. Homes here include older houses and newer subdivisions, so the plumbing varies widely, and the age of the house is the best clue to what is in the ground and in the walls.
We handle drains, sewer lines, water lines, water heaters, fixtures and gas lines for Bowie homeowners.
What to know in Bowie
- Check your pipe type
- Use WSSC's What's Your Pipe Type map for your address. If you have a lead line, WSSC replaces its portion, and recommends replacing yours.
- Customer-side assistance is not final
- WSSC's assistance for the customer side is still in development. Notify WSSC before you replace your portion on your own.
- Which side of the property line
- WSSC says it handles the street mains and the connections up to the property line. A pipe that breaks on private property or inside the house is the owner's responsibility. Work out which side the problem is on before you call anyone.
